RadioWorks, the UK’s leading radio specialist agency, has restructured its operational teams to create four new Group Heads who together will be responsible for all media owner and client relationships, reporting directly to CEO, Michael Charnley-Heaton.

On the 8th October 1973, LBC became the country’s very first (legal) commercial radio station. Now, 40 years later, the industry has grown to 300 stations providing; news, weather, traffic, sport and of course entertainment, to 34 million people every week.

Commercial radio’s 40th birthday was celebrated last week at the House of Commons and was attended by esteemed guests from the world of radio and beyond. Included on the guest list was our own RadioWorks Chairman Stan Park, who is also a member of the RadioCentre’s Roll of Honour that compiles 40 names that have made a significant contribution to radio during the last four decades.

As we come towards the end of the year, we approach the date of digital destiny! On December 16th, the government will make a decision on whether radio stations will turn off analogue signals and go completely digital. And if so, a decision will also be made on the year the transition would take place.

Communicorp buys eight Global stations – what stations are changing?

Global Radio are to sell eight radio stations to Dublin based Communicorp for a reported £35m. The Competition Comission ruled that the group must sell seven stations after buying GMG Radio in June 2012. The move makes Commincorp the UK’s fourth biggest radio owner.
