Head of Content Solutions

You will be responsible for the creation and delivery of a content strategy, designed to grow this channel into a profitable revenue stream for the RadioWorks Group.  Key to the role will be the ability to assist the team to generate revenue through thinking outside the square and utilising Content solutions to deepen the Company’s existing relationships with Advertisers and Agencies.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

Strategy:

Develop a Content strategy to drive increased revenue, GP and brand reputation.

Ensure strategy includes steps to work closely with the AM’s to build more robust relationships with our Agencies and help open doors to new clients.

Manage and drive the implementation of Strategy.

Leadership:
Manage, inspire and actively develop the Brand Integration team.  Play a key part in maintaining our Company culture which champions staff as our most important asset, celebrates success and rewards excellent work.

Focus on setting best practice standards, driving work flow efficiency and excellent output through a culture of continual improvement

Facilitate and drive internal team planning and training sessions, across the business, to ensure a collaborative approach, understanding and buy in of Branded Content

Put in place development and succession plans for your team.  Ensure staff are achieving specific objectives.  Deliver 6 monthly performance appraisals with all staff and follow through with appropriate personal development needs.

Foster internal relationships through strong communications including visits to Carlisle twice annually (minimum).  Provide experienced problem solving where necessary

Branded Content Solutions:

Work closely with the Business Directors and Client Services team to identify Branded Content opportunities inside Agencies

Alongside the Client Service team, actively develop relationships with our key Agencies and champion Branded Content with them and their advertisers.

Actively develop relationships with the Radio and Digital Audio Groups.  Identify, scope and develop innovative commercial offerings with the groups we can offer to our clients proactively.

View all Branded Content briefs and ensure quality control is exercised on the proposals before they are passed onto the AM’s to send or present.  Have the same view across post analysis, ensuring we deliver a compelling reason for a client to spend again.  Where possible present the idea along with the AM.

Respond to briefs and opportunities with smart “ideas driven” solutions, always looking for an opportunity to add value or stand out.  Ensure the solution first and foremost meets the clients’ objectives and is “idea led”

Ensure all proposals include rationale as to why each channel / initiative has been selected and the role it will play in meeting the objectives.   Support ideas with research, insights and case studies to strengthen the solution.

Actively promote Branded Content to our clients in a unique, bespoke and creative way, which educates and demonstrates our skills.

Drive the development of a content calendar identifying key opportunities across the course of the year.  Work with the Client Services team to leverage these in a timely fashion to stimulate proactive conversations inside Agencies

Leverage market data and trends to develop content innovations and execute with agility to demonstrate our specialist position in the market

Actively implement weekly brainstorm sessions internally to build a culture of ideas and creativity

Keep an eye on global content trends and campaigns and actively share with the wider business

Actively seek out awards we can enter globally for our Branded Content solutions.

Proactively liaise with Maple St Creative to design and develop content solutions incorporating audio innovations to drive revenue for Maple Street and RadioWorks.

Leverage new innovations to drive incremental revenue.  Adopt a philosophy of test and tweak to ensure we are leading this sector.

Work with Group Business Director and Marketing to build and improve the RadioWorks Branded Content reputation and awareness in market.  Actively create results focused case studies to demonstrate our ability.

Seek out ways to generate PR through every significant creative branded content solution we deliver.

Seek out and develop partnerships with external company’s and freelancers who can assist with the execution of content creation i.e. video / activation / social / design.

Financial / Reporting / Process:
You will drive the key financial deliverables including revenue growth and GP of the Branded Content team as set by the Commercial Director.

With support from senior members of the Commercial team, you will review and develop robust and easy to implement pricing structures for Branded Content

Utilising the CRM system, develop robust financial reporting requirements to show forecasting and pipeline.  Work with the Client Services team to ensure timely and accurate delivery of information for reporting purposes.

Other:

Success Criteria

Success will be seen through the continual improvement of the Branded Content department, including:

  • Strong internal relationships and confidence in the output of the Branded Content department
  • Branded Content revenue and profit. An increase in defined metrics such as number of briefs, number of proactive conversations, conversions, revenue and profit
  • Growth in the number of Agencies and clients utilising Branded Content
  • Improved client relationships with the business as a whole through adding strategic value, ideation, insights and storytelling

Enhanced brand reputation measured through customer feedback and 6 monthly survey data

Key Skills

You will have 10 years plus media experience, much of which has been in the content / branded content space

Group Commercial Director

You will manage and grow the commercial aspect of the RadioWorks Group, to deliver our business objectives through a “hands on” approach.  Key to this role will be your experience and passion to inspire and motivate teams, plus a drive to instigate and develop professional, meaningful and profitable relationships with our Media Owners, Agencies and direct clients to generate maximum financial performance for the Company.

Reporting directly to the MD.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

Strategy:

Develop and deliver a Commercial strategy aligned with the vision of the business.  Ensure the strategy includes a tangible road map to drive key commercial objectives including financial growth expectations and enhanced customer relationship management.

Leadership:

Manage your key reports and inspire the broader commercial team.  Play a key part in maintaining our Company culture which champions staff as our most important asset, celebrates success and rewards excellent work.

Offer leadership support to your direct reports,  to enable them to deliver their day to day requirements

Foster internal relationships through high levels of communication and transparency with management, your direct reports, Maple St Creative, Radio Trading Desk and other business partners.  Provide experienced problem solving where necessary.

Facilitate internal team planning sessions with your key reports, to ensure a collaborative approach focused on the future, buy in and ownership of deliverables.

Put in place development and succession plans for your key reports and ensure they do the same for theirs.  Ensure staff are achieving their specific objectives through a practice of continual reviews and reflection.  Deliver 6 monthly performance appraisals with your direct reports and follow through with appropriate personal development needs.  Ensure all commercial staff are receiving the same level of feedback and development.

Develop the team to ensure all stakeholders work together to enable a smooth, dynamic and fun working environment led by ideas and solutions.

Facilitate weekly 1-2-1s with your direct reports

Foster internal relationships, including the one between Carlisle and London through quarterly (minimum) visits to Carlisle

Commercial Performance

Be responsible for the overarching delivery of RadioWorks Commercial revenue and profit objectives.  You will also have a view of the commercial aspects of Radio Trading Desk, Maple Street Creative and all other commercial ventures introduced.

Alongside the MD, set monthly, quarterly and annual commercial targets including the bonus structure.  Monitor team performance across Carlisle and London, against these targets and red flag any concerns in a timely fashion.

Develop and implement a clear commercial pipeline and deliver accurate projections across the business.

Support the Business Directors to ensure we have a thorough understanding of our Agencies and their client’s businesses, marketing strategy and objectives to position our offering as an integral part of the solution.

Ensure we are seen as an authoritative industry leader by sharing information and driving the team to curate data and deliver ideas led commercial solutions.

Develop and drive revenue generating initiatives, particularly in our growth focus areas of digital and content.  Actively focus on introducing commercial ways we can grow our digital offering and broaden the content proposition.

Actively work with the Head of Branded Content on the development of a broad content strategy.

Actively work with the London Commercial and Planning Manager and the Regional Business Director to enhance the planning and buying function.  Investigate ways we can add greater value through our airtime plans and solutions.

Influence the media buy through developing robust and meaningful relationships with our clients.  Be out regularly with clients, alongside the appropriate Account Manager / Business Director.

Actively grow relationships with other key industry stakeholders who could influence the success of the business.

Adopt and champion the practice of exceptional, world class customer engagement and service.  Ensure this feeds into the Commercial people across the business, through the implementation of the Company’s Client Engagement plan.

Assist the Business Directors and HODs with targeting and developing new clients, utilising the relevant product and key expert inside the business to open doors and convert

Define and coordinate training plans that enable the team to achieve their potential and deliver company objectives.  Adopt a philosophy of continual learning.

Ensure the commercial team fully utilise the CRM.  Regularly review and analyse activity levels; sales opportunities proposed, lost or won; pipeline visibility to enable you to identify areas of development needed, maximise revenue and achieve our commercial goals.

Regularly and critically review and actively manage process to ensure we execute best practice standards, driving work flow efficiency and excellent output through adopting a culture of continual improvement

Trading and Contracts

Develop and manage the pricing structure for the airtime trading team, including the Radioworks rate card.

Drive improved partnership performance (financial and relationship based) with clients and stations through a review of existing trading terms and arrangements.  Support the Business Directors with their conversations as and when required.

Develop strong and profit enhancing relationships with media owners, at all levels.  Oversee the annual trading agreements with the media owners actively seeking new, innovative ways to trade and maximise our spend.

Manage the text response contract and work with the Regional Business Director on all planning buying software contracts.

Along with the MD and Business Directors/HODs, actively seek out and propose new and innovative ways to trade with our Clients through rebates, protecting our margin whilst offering greater value and incentivising growth

Be responsible for the efficient management of any rebate deals, ensuring we leverage it to drive business performance.  Include quarterly monitoring and reporting to the MD and clients

Other

We have an exciting new opportunity for a new media team member to join the RadioWorks Group – the UK’s largest independent radio and digital audio advertising specialist.

The Role:

The role is based in our Regional Office in Carlisle, and the candidate will work alongside our Client Services team to create audio recommendations. These audio recommendations will be on both commercial radio and digital audio platforms.

You will be responsible for ensuring campaigns meet the clients’ objectives, and will liaise with colleagues, clients and stations. The successful candidate will work across all elements of the business, including RadioWorks, Digital AudioWorks and Maple Street Creative.

The Candidate:

Our ideal candidate will be have a passion for radio, audio and the wider media landscape. They will be highly organised, detail oriented, able to prioritise and meet deadlines, as well as being an excellent communicator and a team player. They will be proactive, flexible, have excellent communication skills and be a self-starter with a ‘can do’ attitude. Experience in this field is desirable.
