Ofcom awards quarter of a million to 16 community stations

The payments are part of the second round in the scheme with the money being supplied by the Department of Culture, Media and Sport to help boost station sustainability.

The grants are awarded on the basis that the money is used to raise further funds for the stations.

The largest award was handed to Oldham Community Radio for £27,428. The money was sought to improve training for a number of stations led by the group.
