Google launches new Podcast app for Android

A new app dedicated to Podcasts has launched on Google’s Android platform, and via Google Assistant.

Google Podcasts, available in the Play Store, allows users to listen and subscribe to any podcast, and uses AI to ‘offer recommendations based on your listening habits—such as your interest in sports or true crime, or podcasts from a particular network’.

Union JACK partners with Channel 4

Union JACK is partnering with Channel 4 for the first time to promote its forthcoming comedy series, Stath Lets Flats.

The collaboration with Channel 4, which was overseen by OMD, will see content run across Union JACK’s schedule for seven weeks, including a competition for listeners to win a month’s free rent (£1,000), brought to life through one of the characters in audio form co-written by Union JACK and Demetriou.

Radiocentre welcomes radio deregulation update

Radiocentre, has welcomed new proposals from Ofcom to give radio stations greater flexibility in how they produce their output and provide the best possible service for listeners.

Ofcom’s latest consultation on commercial radio content rules released on the 22nd June, follows confirmation from the Government at the end of 2017 that it would like to see stations given more freedom.
