Magic will disappear from medium wave radios from next year, as Bauer Media announces a major shuffle of its Place portfolio brands. Bauer is promising the launch of “two new local services in each major city to complement the highly demanded ‘Place’ stations.
Absolute Radio launches outdoor advertising with breakfast hosts
Absolute Radio has unveiled a new outdoor marketing campaign, using scrolling roadside sites, to drive awareness of the station’s flagship comedy offerings featuring award-winning breakfast show hosts Christian O’Connell and Frank Skinner. The radio broadcaster which sees Christian O’Connell man the weekday mornings and Skinner present the Saturday morning slot will celebrate comedy in a series of roadside ads – informing commuters that the station does not only offer music and football content. O’Connell’s weekly show currently has an average of 1.5 million listeners however Absolute Radio will be looking to grow that audience with these latest ads.
48.5% claim to own a DAB digital radio set according the figures released in Ofcom’s digital radio report. DAB set ownership varies across the UK with Cambridgeshire/Peterborough the highest at 58.1% of adults owning a set and Northern Ireland with the lowest at 26.7%. Sales of DAB radio sets have fallen 9.1% in the second quarter of 2014 compared with the same period last year.
Audio content sharing platform audioBoo has announced a complete overhaul of its branding and logos, including the adoption of a new name, AudioBoom along with a new-look app. The free app, designed to enable users to record and share audio clips for free, has been relaunched with a completely redesigned user interface.
