talkSPORT revise schedule and sign Johnny Vaughan

Former Capital FM and BBC Radio 5 live presenter Johnny Vaughan will host a new weekend football build-up show as part of a number of schedule changes on sports radio station talkSPORT. Max Rushden will host a similar show on Sundays while Georgie Bingham joins Micky Quinn as the new host of Weekend Sports Breakfast.

Sony end Radio Academy Awards sponsorship

After a 32 year spell, Sony has decided to cancel its sponsorship deal with the Radio Academy, effectively ending use of the term ‘winning a Sony’. From next year, the awards will be known as ‘The Radio Academy Awards’ with a new sponsor for the event yet to be agreed.

Smooth Radio London moves to Global Radio’s Leicester Square offices

Reported exclusively by Radio Today, Global Radio has taken the first steps in controlling Smooth Radio by moving the station to its Leicester Square head-quarters. Global have also decided to merge the West Midlands and London sales teams.
