Country Hits Radio will sit alongside Hits Radio and Greatest Hits Radio, which Bauer says will provide “commercial partners with an exciting new opportunity to reach a clearly defined and valuable audience.”
The new country music station is set to launch on 5th April and will be available on DAB in: London, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, South Yorkshire, Lancashire, Humberside, Tyne & Wear, Teesside, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Tayside, Inverness and Ayr.
Targeting the modern country music-lover (aged 25-44), Country Hits Radio will host a variety of the very best tunes from the country music scene, featuring artists like Keith Urban, Thomas Rhett, Maren Morris, Florida Georgia Line, Dan + Shay and Carrie Underwood.

Why Country Music?
Country music is seeing vast growth in the UK. The genre is stepping into mainstream culture as we’re seeing a flourishing live gig & festival scene and prominent album sales growth (1.9M in 2017). Studies commissioned by the Country Music Association (CMA) revealed that millennials surprisingly make up the largest segment of the UK audience. Now with a reported 8.7 million fans listening to country music, it’s no wonder that radio stations like Country Hits Radio, Chris Country and Global’s latest online station: Smooth Country are emerging.
Group Managing Director for Hits Radio and Greatest Hits Networks, Graham Bryce said: “Country Hits Radio is a unique station which is an exciting development from the Hits Radio Network building on our recent launch of the Greatest Hits Network. Our insight tells us that this unique and valuable 25-44-year old music loving audience, love country music and live experiences, and we feel there is a wealth of opportunity around this station as it’s the first of its kind to realise the demand for this fast-growing genre.”
Una Healy said: “When you look at the success of artists such as The Shires and Ward Thomas as well as huge events like Country 2 Country, it’s clear there’s a real audience for country music in the UK. It’s a genre I’ve fallen in love with and it’s thrilling that it now has a home in Country Hits Radio. I can’t wait to get started!”
