Digital audio has gone from strength-to-strength as a channel in recent years and in particular during the pandemic. A piece of research called Listen Up Ireland, conducted by IAB Ireland and Red C, showed that digital audio usage has expanded to critical mass with over 2.53 million people in Ireland listening every week.
On average we are consuming 16.6 hours of digital audio per week and it shows no sign of stopping any time soon. The same piece of research tells us that one in four expect to increase their digital audio listening over the next 12 months.
Audioboom Group PLC (LON:BOOM) advanced 7% to 432p before close on Friday after announcing it is now ranked the fifth largest US podcast publisher.
The list is compiled by Triton Digital, a digital audio technology and advertising company, which looks at the average weekly downloads.
Audioboom averaged 10.95mln downloads per week, a 55% increase since joining Triton Digital’s podcast ranking service in May 2020.
Bauer Media Audio is set to acquire radio group Mediatakojat Oy in Finland.
Mediatakojat owns Radio City Mikkeli, Kasari, Ysäri, Radio Pori and Auran Aallot and has been working with Bauer recently in sales.
Mediatakojat started as a local radio company in Pori, and has grown in recent years, expanding its operations to a total of eight cities.
Bauer Media Audio has announced the launch of two new initiatives that focus on championing, training and finding female talent in the radio industry.
Its new ‘Women in Programming’ programmes will provide freelancers and Bauer women with training, mentoring and coaching, whilst the ‘Finding Female Talent’ programme lies within its leading radio brand KISS, focusing on finding the best female talent aged 16-24 and providing them a start in radio.
