Plus a new number 1 commercial station in London
Here are the radio listening headlines from the RAJAR release for Q4 2015. All statistics are for weekly listening unless otherwise stated.

In their first RAJAR since rebranding from XFM, the
Radio X Network has delivered
1.2million listeners – up 17% quarter on quarter.

The networked stations
continue to high reach with listening figures in the millions;
Heart 9.1m,
Capital 7.5m,
Kiss 5.4m,
Smooth 4.9m, and,
Absolute 4.4m.

48.2 million (9 out of
10) adults listen to
radio every week, with 66%
listening to commercial radio.

Capital is now London's most popular station with
2.1m listeners, replacing
Kiss to take the top spot.
Magic has continued to hold off
Heart for the third place spot, with
LBC some distance behind in fifth place.
Clyde 1 remains the most listened to commercial station in Scotland with
584,000 weekly listeners – up a whopping 22% year on year.

41.7% of all
listening is via digital
platforms, with 56.1%
of the population now tuning in
digitally every week. The largest
proportion of digital listening is
via DAB radio with 27.7% of all
listening hours.

Absolute 80s
tops the digital-only station race with 1.58m and
Kisstory is not far behindm delivering 1.4m listeners.

In Q4 2015, Dave and Lisa on
Capital FM were the most listened to breakfast show in London reaching 1 million listeners. With Lisa departing the show at the end of last year, the search is on to find a suitable replacement.
Magic (Nick Snaith) retains 2nd place followed by
Kiss (Ricky, Melvin and Charlie) in 3rd place and
Heart (Jamie and Emma) up to 4th place.

Commercial radio’s share of listening versus the BBC is at
44.1%, however it is at a local level where commercial radio really dominates with
more than three times
the amount of listeners. |
