Greatest Hits Radio – a new national commercial radio station has launched across the UK today. The first song played on the station was David Bowie’s, ‘Let’s Dance’ as the station launches with Bowie Week, celebrating the life of David Bowie – coinciding with the singer’s birthday and anniversary of his death.

Greatest Hits Radio from Bauer Media follows the launch of national brand Hits Radio last year. The station is targeting an audience of 40-59 year olds, complementing its younger sister Hits Radio by welcoming an audience who are ‘ageless in attitude’.

We can expect to hear the biggest songs of the 70s, 80s and 90s, as the station is set to be a place for discovering an upbeat, authentic, fun and entertaining format where ‘Good Times Sound Like This’. Music from artists like Blondie, Queen, Madonna, Fleetwood Mac, INXS, Elton John and Michael Jackson will be celebrated.

The weekday daytime lineup features Mark Goodier – who is currently covering the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show ahead of Zoe Ball taking on the role. Breakfast on Greatest Hits Radio will be hosted by Rossie who joins from Bauer’s Liverpool station, Radio City 2. Other presenters include Andy Crane on the afternoon show, Darren Proctor hosting Drivetime, and Rick Houghton on evenings.

New host Mark Goodier said “Greatest Hits Radio does exactly what the name describes – it’s the destination for those seeking out the most amazing music from across the decades. Kicking off with Bowie Week, I can’t wait to share my passion for some of the greatest artists of our time with listeners. Hope you’ll join us!”

s in store for the audio world, from seeing how Rickie, Melvin and Charlie get on at the BBC and what impact Chris Evans joining Virgin Radio in January will have for the ratings!
