Have a Heart Appeal raises £202,967

Mar 2013  Radio News

Listeners have now donated more than half a million pounds to help disadvantaged children in the communities to which Heart broadcasts.

The Appeal, which involved every local Heart region in the network, culminated in a fundraising extravaganza last week with a number of celebrities lending their support. Jude Law, Nicole Scherzinger, The Wanted, Lawson, The Saturdays, Alan Carr, Geri Halliwell, Louis Smith, Amelia Lily, Warwick Davis, Beth Tweddle, Rylan Clark and Jon Culshaw all featured alongside Heart presenters such as Stephen Mulhern, Mark Wright, Toby Anstis, Margherita Taylor and Emma Bunton.

Some of the money was raised through exclusive auction lots, such as £15,000 for a F1 VIP trip-of-a-lifetime to the Monaco Grand Prix, £10,050 for the Ultimate Heart Prize to meet the Heart presenters and £9,700 for a tour of the Twentieth Century Fox Studios in LA, plus tickets to a premiere in London.

Heart presenter Stephen Mulhern said: “The £202,967 will enable Have a Heart to grant hundreds of wishes to seriously ill children across the UK – it will make a real difference to their lives. We’d like to say a massive thank you to all our listeners and guests for being so generous and making the Have a Heart Appeal such a success.”
