Following the death of HRH, The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, on Friday 9th April commercial radio stations across the UK broke the news to listeners.
Shortly after midday on Friday, broadcasters quickly entered obituary (Obit) mode, following protocols for breaking news of national importance. Broadcasters have marked the period of mourning in a number of ways across their stations, websites and social media. Some stations also paused advertising as a mark of respect.
Podcast publisher Audioboom is announcing an exclusive distribution and monetization deal for the True Crime Obsessed podcast. In a separate agreement Audioboom will fund the development of new shows in the Obsessed Network.
True Crime Obsessed is hosted by Patrick Hinds and Gillian Pensavalle, and has been downloaded over 70-million times since its 2017 launch.
A new Spring schedule at Magic will see Magic Soul presenter Simon Phillips join the main station to replace Richard Allinson on Drive.
Previously, Simon has worked at Choice FM, Capital FM, Galaxy, and joined Jazz FM to present weekend breakfast last year.
Other changes include new shows for Sonali Shah, Kat Shoob and Judi Love.
River Radio, ‘The Voice of Thames Valley’, has launched a new commercial radio station covering an area from Reading to Windsor and all towns in between this morning (Monday).
The station will stream online with a daily breakfast show (The Morning Brew) and drive time show (Tea Time) along with extra shows covering broader local community topics.
