The exclusive gig will take place in front of an intimate audience in Abbey Road’s Studio 3 and will be broadcast on Pete Donaldson’s new show on Thursday April 25.
Mumford & Sons were named Best British Group at this year’s Brit Awards and are currently riding high on the success of their album Babel, which debuted at number one on both the UK and US album charts. It also became the fastest selling record of 2012 in Britain and was named Album of the Year at The Grammys in 2013.
Studio 3 at the iconic Abbey Road Studios is synonymous with legendary performances from the likes of The Beatles, Pink Floyd and Paul Weller and Mumford & Sons’ performance takes place just weeks before they’re due to kick off their tour of America.
Pete Donaldson, who will also be interviewing the band on the night, said: “We have supported Mumford & Sons from the very start and to welcome them back to our Abbey Road Studios Acoustic Sessions as one of the biggest bands in the world is a real moment in history for Absolute Radio.”
Pete’s new show, Monday to Thursday from 8pm-12am, will feature live sessions, music interviews and requests, plus a brand new album of the week slot. The programme will also look to support new music, providing opportunities and airtime for emerging artists, as well as established acts.
As part of the series of Acoustic Sessions, Absolute Radio has previously hosted Suede, The xx and Brit Award winner Tom Odell.
