RAJAR Q2 2020 update from the RadioWorks Group
Today, there would normally be a quarterly announcement of the latest RAJAR results, but as many of you will have seen, RAJAR was unable to carry out fieldwork during lockdown. So, an agreement has been made with all involved, in light of RAJAR data being frozen, to apply an update within trading systems thereafter using a 12 month sample.
RAJAR has also announced that they have been running their own tracking survey throughout the lockdown period, and will soon be releasing a market overview about ‘Listening in Lockdown’. This will focus mainly on generic listening behaviour and not individual stations or brands.
Figures in the public domain from RAJAR’s Q1, 2020 results will be frozen for Q2. There will, however, be some changes to airtime trading with data at this level based on the twelve-month period of Q1 2020 to Q2 2019, incorporating the annual population updates. RAJAR has done this in order to preserve a viable trading currency over the disrupted period from Q2. This data is classified as Q2 in the systems; however, it will remain until the new service resumes.
This afternoon, RAJAR have clarified from Q2, that the RAJAR Survey has been suspended as a consequence of COVID19. For clarity, they state that these station audience figures are not based on new survey data but are calculated on past data reported over the 12 months to Q1 2020, incorporating population updates. This data, if used is not comparable with any other quarter or against competitors, nor can they be used to create a viable trend.
