Over the last decade, podcasting has skated its way into the spotlight, following its growing popularity and the sizeable investments from market leaders. It was just a short while ago that Spotify pledged to “become the world’s leading audio platform” by way of its enormous podcast purchases and platform innovation. Now, the audio giant is revamping its listening experience by launching a new podcast discovery feature. Introducing Spotify’s brand-new podcast charts, Top Podcasts and Trending Podcasts.
Music discovery on Spotify has always been state-of-the-art, and now it’s hoping to do the same for its podcast catalogue. The new podcast charts are aimed at helping listeners browse through the most interesting and popular podcasts available.
The new discovery tool separates the ‘top’ from the ‘trending’ and offers, in some cases, category-level charts. According to Spotify, Top Podcasts will list the top 200 most popular shows in the selected region or category, and Trending Podcasts will display the top 50 rapidly rising shows.
The new feature is available via Spotify’s mobile app across 26 markets and category-level charts will also be accessible in the US, UK, Sweden, Germany, Mexico, Brazil, and Australia.
