Nielsen Music has released its year-end report. Nielsen finds that the year generated 1.15 trillion on-demand streams in the U.S. Audio was responsible for 745.7 billion on-demand song streams, a 23.8% increase on-year, and video provided 401.2 billion on-demand song streams, a rise of 40.7%.
Interestingly, the UK had the largest share of music listeners streaming via premium and free services at 83%.
Global has released a new bunch of comedy podcasts under the Radio X brand.
Dubbed with the tagline ‘streaming with laughter’, the six new podcasts are fronted by Matt Morgan, Maisie Adam and Tom Lucy, Heidi Regan, Rhys James, Chris Washington and Tom Houghton.
Former Editor and Head of Production for BBC Radio 1 Rebecca Frank is the new Content Director at KISS.
Bauer says Rebecca will lead the content vision, strategy and team for the KISS brand including KISS, KISSTORY and KISS Fresh radio stations, plus streamed extensions including KISS DNCE, IBIZA and Garage.
Radio Jackie staffers young and old met to celebrate fifty years serving South West London recently.
‘The Sound of South West London’ started broadcasting in March 1969 and the radio station’s founders and many leading lights including Bob Dunn and Colin King, joined station boss Tony Collis (pictured below) to mark the occasion.
Three generations of Jackie’s radio people were among those celebrating the milestone.
