The video-streaming service and SiriusXM have partnered up to launch ‘Joke Radio’, which could hit the airwaves in January 2019. The new channel will draw on Netflix’s existing library of comedy programs and Netflix specials, which include the likes of Chris Rock, Amy Schumer, Aziz Ansari and Ricky Gervais. There are also plans to create original content for the audio show.

This is exciting news for us in the audio world, as such a big household name ventures into audio-only programming and we hope to see this process repeated to the UK audience later next year too!

Netflix has previously produced other podcast and audio campaigns to support its shows, for example collaborating with Google for a smart speaker audio drama in support of its Lost in Space reboot.

Scott Greenstein, President and Chief Content Officer at SiriusXM, said “We look forward to creating one-of-a-kind exclusive original comedy programming with existing and new Netflix talent. When we launch, it will be ground-breaking for both of us, allowing listeners a new way to experience their amazing content.”
