Streaming helps digital music match global physical sales
Fuelled by the popularity of streaming, digital music has matched and will likely soon surpass physical formats in the money it generates, a global industry body has said. The IFPI, the London-based body for the recording business, described the boom in streaming services as good news for the industry even though overall revenue still slipped in 2014.
Sales of DAB/FM radios have risen unexpectedly as the UK faces an upturn in warmer weather and a potential digital switchover. John Lewis reported a surge in sales of nearly 20 per cent for the internet-enabled audio devices within recent weeks. This growth in sales could be attributed to the fact that consumers are clamouring to purchase long lasting technology as prices drop in the lead up to the potential digital switchover.
Former Apprentice contestant and The Sun columnist Katie Hopkins is joining LBC. She’s hosting a one-off programme this weekend, sitting in for Beverley Turner. Katie has made a number of appearances on television but this is her first time hosting a radio show.
