Jazz FM Chairman Richard Wheatly dies, aged 69
Chairman of Jazz FM, Richard Wheatly, died earlier this week aged 69 after a short illness. The news was announced today by a Jazz FM spokesperson, who said: “Richard had been an integral part of Jazz FM for many years and is responsible for shaping the brand you know and love today. [He] was much loved by everyone at Jazz FM and will be greatly missed.”
Television presenter and former newspaper editor Nick Ferrari loves radio compared to other media because there’s no manipulation on the stories. Nick was speaking at the Student Radio Conference where he said newspapers and television can make a story out of nothing and making it look interesting, unlike live radio.
Spotify saw ad revenue rise 53% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2015. That’s according to newly released figures from the streaming service’s Spotify For Brands division. Spotify has also confirmed the period saw a 380% increase in mobile ad revenue compared to the same three months in 2014.
Global Entertainment launches live touring and festival arm, Global Live
Global Entertainment is making a big move into the live industry with the launch of Global Live, a touring and festival promotion arm. The music company, headed up by Ashley Tabor, hinted at big things to come earlier this year after making a slew of executive appointments. Amongst them were former AEG Live CEO Randy Phillips, who heads up Global’s LA office, and is now tasked with leading Global Live.
