There are strong cases on both sides of the argument, but there’s little disagreement that Culture Minister Ed Vaizey will have to make a very difficult choice. Amongst the digital debate, it’s worth noting the results of a recent consumer survey concerning the BBC’s exclusive access over the license fee. 70% of voters believe it should be cut or scrapped before the Charter is rewritten in 2016. To compensate, there is support for advertising as a source of income on the BBC across their media outlets, including radio.
